I always knew I wanted to be a dental therapist from a young age. The thought of being able to transform someone’s smile and help build their confidence really struck a cord with me, I knew I wanted to help do this! I spent 3 summers working at a dental practice shadowing a dental therapist for a few weeks and the experience was so valuable I’m very grateful I had the opportunity. I think having experience can either show you that you belong on that career path or need to go with something else. It’s a great insight and I recommend it to any prospective student.

I worked so incredibly hard and dedicated a lot of time to studying and now here I am today in my dream job as a dental therapist. Everyday I get to make such a difference to every kind of patient and some of the differences I have helped implement have been wonderful. I’m only two years qualified but already making an impact.

My biggest advice to students is having the work life balance, spending less time worrying about social media and more time out being involved with other parts of the university. It’s so important to have other interests and you can meet so many amazing people!
