The Next Gen Programme
An innovative and free programme to inspire and support UK sixth form students to pursue a career in healthcare through intervcative workshops, resources & masterclasses, run by qualified UK healthcare professionals and senior healthcare students.
About the Programme
Stage 1 - Discover
The first stage of the programme involves students participating in a 1.5 hour healthcare careers workshop which will be delivered in your school (or virtually if you prefer) by a trained and DBS checked Future Frontline volunteer who will be either a qualified healthcare professional or senior healthcare student. The workshop will raise awareness of healthcare careers they may have not heard of before & will teach them a skill healthcare professionals use on a daily basis!
Stage 2 - Explore
Students who complete stage 1 of the programme will then be able to explore each healthcare career further through our bank of online resources including articles written by healthcare professionals, students & apprenticeships themselves. They will also be able to attend online events such as a virtual healthcare careers fair where they will be able to hear from many different types of healthcare professionals and ask them questions about their career.
Stage 3 - Succeed
Once students have decided on which degree or apprenticeship they would like to pursue they will be able to attend webinars and workshops designed to equip them with the skills to make a successful application onto their chosen course. Workshops will include interview mocks. There will also be the opportunity to attend a day at our partner universities to see what going to university is like. Programme participants will be awarded a certificate to recognise their engagement.
The 2023-24 Results:
92% of students stated they are now considering a career in healthcare after participating in the Next Gen programme.
