Why be a Paediatric Nurse?

I always wanted to work with children and be a nurse. It was like it was just naturally engrained in me from a young age. No one in my family has ever been a nurse. I'm the first and only one in this kind of job. I chose paediatrics because kids are just amazing.

Don’t get me wrong it is the hardest job and I do question my choice sometimes but I really couldn't do anything else. Even when it’s hard I find ways of reminding myself why I went into nursing and the reasons I still do it and for me that outweighs the bad days.

I've been qualified 6 years now on the same ward and I love where I work. I don’t want to be anywhere else. Our team are amazing and that's what gets us through the things we see... each other. The patients are amazing, their families are too. I love that we look after a range of specialities from cancer to mental health.

Getting a senior nurse job is the highlight of my career and I'm so proud of myself and really hope I stay here for even longer and continue to love it like I do. Loving where you work really does make such a difference to your whole life.

I love seeing new students or nurses who have the passion for it too and you can just see they are doing the right thing. The future is bright! Yes its hard, especially now but it’s also the best job there is, hands down.
