Let’s begin with why I decided to pursue this career and that’s a very simple reason- I am motivated in helping others, being a key part of a patients rehabilitation and recovery (both physical and mental recovery in most cases) and, most importantly, I love communicating and being hands-on!

Everyday there is something new in Physio practice - new patients, new complex cases, new rehabilitation plans, new skills and techniques needed to be used and new evidence is constantly arising! This changing profession is so exciting and interesting to me and I simply can’t wait to qualify and begin making a real difference to patient’s lives.

It is really cheesy but I love the quote ‘Physiotherapists are life changers’ as it sums up completely why I love this profession! We can make a difference in so many sectors and to such a wide range of people! A day in the life of a physio is never boring.

In relation to applying to this degree I would encourage aspiring physio’s to undertake extensive placements and overshadowing in order to be certain that this is what you want. A lot of University’s also require a placement before you are even given an interview! In your personal statement you should aim at talking about what you learnt in this placement and how you know you can do this job (your qualities related to what’s demanded of you in the job). In the interview, you should practice on being knowledgable about the profession as they may ask you some out- there questions to prove that you are informed on the discipline.

Most importantly- be yourself in your placement, interview, course and profession and you will always thrive as a physio! We need individuality and new ideas!

I really hope I have inspired some future physios with this blog and if you are a physio or healthcare student I would be grateful if you could follow my Instagram account where I am aiming to educate and encourage! See you soon.
